My name is Rory. I’m a professional musician & sound designer, living in Manchester, UK with my gorgeous wife, baby and dog!

This site is mainly for me to collate my creative output, music, synth plugins, photography or whatever, without the need for me to be too professional or corporate (I have another site for that!). I’m a big Ableton Live fan and also a bit of a gearslut (when I can afford to be!). My musical pride and joy is my Analogue Systems modular synthesizer.

Everything on this is offered freely under this Creative Commons license, which basically says you can download and use anything you like from this site in your productions. You can also alter or amend anything and offer it yourself but it must be free and it must credit and link me as the creator.

If you like anything on the site, leave me a comment or even better buy my music.

Rory :)

hey i need ur advice how do u think i should star making beats i fruity loops …im alright but not that good at it iwanna buy my self a drum machine .. but i like ur little set up the way u got ur studio …wa u think should i buy first …..

  7. Rozzer says:

Luis – you could check out the MPC1000. Great little machine. It’s hard to give advice though. See if you can have a play on one, or just stick with Fruity. It’s not what you’ve got, but how you use it!

  8. Joey says:

    Hi Rory,

I just viewed your monster dub video for the first time. You make it look effortless! Terrific video.

I’m wondering if you may be able to offer some advice. I currently have an MPC 2000 (original) and run Reason as my main syth (I use the MPC sequencer….run Reason as a Slave). I also use Cubase SX (current version).

Here’s my problem….when I “deactivate” the sequencer in Reason (midi clock slave to mpc) I can no longer Rewire the Midi Data into Cubase….the sound is there, Cubase recognizes the input… but the Midi Data is effectively “empty”. I know you use software synths and record into Cubase, so I thought this may be something you’d find easy to answer.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank you!

  9. Rozzer says:

    Joey,

I have no experience of Reason or Rewire, so I’m not much help to you. Try the Propellerheads forums.

Glad you enjoyed the video :)

  18. Pedro says:

Hi Rory, first congratulations for the studio and all you interest on synthesis and sound design.
I am trying to use the Evolver midi device manager editor but the evolver device manager just sends data doesnt receive and because off that i dont have the programs list on the evolver midi channel! So its impossible to change the programs via cubase, it seems the device manager doesnt have midi in for the data that comes from evolver.

If you have any idea please say something!
    Cheers
    Pedro

  20. Dj Jas says:

Just tried the midi cc map for the DSI Evolver, Fanatasic! this has opened a world of possibilities & made programming the synth much easier.

    Many Thanks.

    Hi Rozzer!

Man, your music is classy, real music.

I saw you are looking for a rapper, well, I live in Brazil, that puts us off working together.

    but wait! internet! wow!

I am up to go in studio to record some of my songs, i compose.

the kind of music you create muses me, i really like it, i am very open minded for music, dont have a unique style, but your music is really nice to hear.

Well, if you are interested, i can send you the audios after the recording.

i can also compose something special, just give me a theme. im good at it man.

I compose in portuguese and english, but lately have been working in portuguese, i wanna change the world you know, efectively, not adjectively (well, im not using word corrector sorry) so I need to start a little around here.

Well, can be a join-experiment from far away, but only materialy, maybe not espiritualy.

    Well, write me plz.

and congratulations for your babygirl, life is unexplainable awesome, thats why i want to change the world, so that not only safe people will survive this world in order to evolve in here. we al shall evolve.

    Best Wishes, Leyo!

  22. Dj Jas says:

Back again with a question this time. When I move a controller on the DSI Evolver mixmap panel it moves the controller on the synth, but when I reverse it, tweak the knobs on the synth the controllers on the panel stay still. I’ve tried a few basic settings (snd/rec midi) cubase is showing midi activity, so I’m getting a signal. It might be that the panels don’t receive midi cc or I could be doing somthing wrong.
Any help would be fab as I would like to get the most out of this great synth & an amazing panel.

    Cheers
    DJ Jas

  23. Rodrigo says:

HI, i saw your video of monster dub on youtube,
and i liked it very much,

i am not a kind of musician like you,
but i love to sample old music,

and i like to know what kind of music is
    that sample of monster dub,
its sounds like old jazz, but i dont really know,

so if you can help me with that,it will be great!

and by the way, keep on white your things!

    awsome music!

    cheers

  25. Matt G. says:

I was looking for an email, but I just wanted to know if you mind if I use your speak n spell samples in my music productions, or if they are copywritten. I’m starting to delve into sound design more with my compositions, but don’t want to be committing copyright violations, etc…

    thanks

    -mg

  26. Rozzer says:

Matt – Sorry for the late reply. Yes you can use any samples on this site in your productions. The only thing you can’t do is sell the samples as they are or as part of a samples package.

  27. Roy says:

Well, I came for the PSP Nitro presets, and stayed for all the great music! I love your high-energy sound. I’ll have to be careful listening to your music in the car or I’m liable to get a speeding ticket!

    Hi,

I’m interested in your Metal Mickey VST.

    It shows on page http://www.rozzer.net/metal-mickey-delay-masher

When I click on “Download Metal Mickey”, it results in the error below:

Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.

Is there any way you can make the Metal Mickey VST available again please.

    Thanks.

  34. ejgas says:

    Rory,
Just picked up an old Roland JV-2080 with 8 cards, currentl running Cubase. Looked on steinberg.net and noticed you had requested a program that read all the system cards and created patch script file for Cubase. By chance do you still have the program?
    THanks

  35. jske says:
