I’ve just bought a dream item. An Analogue Systems modular synthesizer. To say I’m excited is a huge understatement. It’s like 10 Christmases all at once.
In short is consists of 3 oscillators, 3 filters, 3 LFOs, 3 envelopes, 2 VCAs and a whole bunch of fun stuff like ring mod, mixers, s&h, comb filter, inverter, shaper, dividers and pitch tracking. A sound designer’s wet dream.

The truth is I’ve come full circle with modulars. I went through a phase about 5 years ago of really wanting one. I grew out of it (partly due to lack of funds) as I figured they were inflexible and expensive for just one voice. Then about 2 months ago I played with an Analogue Systems modular almost exactly like this one and fell in love.
It hasn’t arrived yet. I think the next week may drag by super slowly. Luckily I’m busy enough not to be sitting around reading manuals until then (well maybe just a little bit). I shall post back as soon as it appears, with audio examples.
